Botanical Treasures event, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Thursday 27th November

An exciting event at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh:

The event links in with our “Botanical Treasures” book that was published earlier this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Herbarium and Library building. You will have the chance to get behind the scenes at the Botanics with a tour of the Library and Herbarium, stopping along the way to see some of the original items from our collections that feature in the book with our staff on hand to tell you all about them. Items on display will include specimens from Linnaeus’ garden, correspondence from Charles Darwin, the oldest book and specimen from the collections, a range of original botanical paintings, Anna Atkins cyanotypes and books, specimens and original artworks relating to our Indian collections.
Doors open at 20a Inverleith Row at 6pm with the tours starting at 6.30; drinks and nibbles will be available upon arrival.

More information and booking details can be found on our website at http://www.rbge.org.uk/whats-on/event-details/3630; tickets will also be available at the door on the night.
